Tips for Selecting, Cleaning, & Freezing Strawberries

  • Selecting and Cleaning your strawberries


  1. Select  fresh, red-ripe, firm strawberries.
  2. Wash a few at a time, gently in very cold water leaving caps on (Don't soak the strawberries they will become water logged).
  3. Place in a colander to drain.



  • For Whole Strawberries:

Allow the strawberries to dry completely; you can cap them or leave the caps on; Place them on a cookie sheet then put the cookie sheet in the freezer; Once strawberries are frozen, place the strawberries in a freezer bag or similiar container recommended for freezing; label product, and date; put them in the freezer.


  • For Strawberries that are chopped, cut or pureed:

Allow the strawberries to dry; Cap them; then chop, cut, or puree them; if you want them sugared put the amount of sugar that you prefer; allow time for the sugar to dissolve; then put them in a freezer container or bag recommended for freezing; Label product, and date; put them in the freezer!
